In this month’s Paragon Spotlight, we are excited to present our interview with renowned photographer John Falocco. As you will see in the gorgeous images accompanying this interview, John’s talent with the nude male form is such that the world’s top male models – including some who have never shot full-frontal nudity – gladly get naked for his camera, including Levi Poulter, Alan Valdez, Tyler Phelan, Zack Vasquez, Anthony Catanzaro, Gonzalo Fruinque, Bryan Seth, and Christian Rosales among many others. Look for more from this endlessly creative artist in an upcoming Spotlight, in which we plan to feature his stunning swimwear designs. We interviewed John in his New York studio.
What sorts of images do you create? Do you have a favorite category?
I shoot fashion, beauty, fitness, and fine art nudes.
My shoots are usually related to my swimwear/activewear collection.
I particularly like to shoot black and white fine art nudes both in the studio and in different locations.
What are your thoughts on shooting in studio vs. shooting outside a studio setting?
Shooting in the studio enables me to have control over lighting, mood, and style.
Shooting on location is always challenging because of the constantly changing light and weather.
I enjoy both very much. Each situation requires a different preparation.
How did your career start and develop? How were you trained? How long have you been a photographer?
I started shooting models professionally in 1979. I was educated formally in art from childhood. My education in art has enabled me to transfer that knowledge to visual interpretation of imagery in photography where I can apply the elements of composition, color, and design.
In the 1980′s, I began working as a magazine photographer for various publication in Manhattan. Read the full article here!
